Scale
For the Dough:
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¼ cups warm water (110°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for greasing)
For the Sauce:
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
For the Toppings:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Extra olive oil for drizzling
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
Make the Sauce:
- In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 15–20 minutes, then set aside.
Prepare the Pizza:
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking sheet with olive oil.
- Stretch the risen dough to fit the pan, pressing it gently into the corners. Let it rest for 10–15 minutes.
- Spread an even layer of tomato sauce over the dough. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
Bake:
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve:
- Garnish with fresh basil, slice into squares, and enjoy!
Notes
- Let the dough rest in the fridge overnight for extra flavor.
- Use a well-oiled pan for that signature crispy crust.
