For the Fried Chicken:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (optional for extra crunch)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Mac & Cheese:
- 8 oz elbow macaroni (or pasta of choice)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
Instructions
For the Fried Chicken:
- In a bowl, mix buttermilk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Add chicken pieces, cover, and marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove chicken from the buttermilk, dip into the flour mixture, then back into the buttermilk, and again into the flour (double coating for extra crunch).
- Fry in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Drain on a paper towel.
For the Mac & Cheese:
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then whisk in flour to form a roux.
- Gradually add milk, stirring continuously, until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in shredded cheeses, salt, pepper, and mustard powder until melted and creamy.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta.
Assembly:
- Place mac & cheese in a serving dish.
- Top with crispy fried chicken pieces.
- Garnish with extra shredded cheese, parsley, or hot sauce if desired.
- Serve hot and enjoy!

- For extra flavor, use smoked paprika in the chicken batter.
