Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast:

    • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Make the Dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
    • Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
    • Knead the dough for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  • Let the Dough Rise:

    • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Focaccia Base:

    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Grease a baking sheet or a cast-iron skillet with olive oil.
    • Spread the dough evenly, pressing it into the corners. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
    • Dimple the surface with your fingers and drizzle more olive oil on top.
  • Pre-Bake the Focaccia:

    • Bake for 12–15 minutes until slightly golden.
  • Add Toppings:

    • Spread pizza sauce over the partially baked focaccia.
    • Sprinkle cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Add your preferred toppings.
  • Bake Again:

    • Return to the oven and bake for another 10–15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
