Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or American cheese)
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • ¼ cup sliced pickles
  • ¼ cup diced onions
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
    • Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well.
    • Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  • Toast the Rolls:

    • Spread butter on the inside of the sub rolls and toast them on a skillet or in the oven until golden brown.
  • Assemble the Subs:

    • Divide the cooked beef among the toasted sub rolls.
    • Place a slice of cheese on top of each and let it melt slightly.
    • Add lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and diced onions.
  • Add Condiments:

    • Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the top half of the roll.
  • Serve & Enjoy:

    • Close the sub and serve warm. Enjoy with fries or chips!

Notes

  • You can swap out cheddar for provolone, Swiss, or pepper jack cheese.
  • Add crispy bacon for extra flavor!
  • Use lean ground beef (80/20) for the best balance of flavor and juiciness.
  • Toasting the buns enhances the texture and prevents them from getting soggy.
